Li Libo was born and raised in the mountains of mainland China, where she grew up in a small village, climbed trees and played in the local kimchi pot factory. After graduating with a 1.5 master's degree in Fine Arts and a major in ceramics, she was determined to set up a studio to create objects that are rich in tradition and history, yet functional and fun - the kind of work that can make people make you laugh.
Li Libo is inspired by the inseparable and intimate relationship between the bonsai tree and its pot: a bond as close as lovers, families, friends or even that between humans and our mother earth.
The most unique thing about her Bonsai cups is that the shapes of the cups are designed in such a way that they can be perfectly stacked within each other, creating a complete bonsai. It is practical, surprising, playful and romantic.
Lilibo cooperates with small porcelain factories in Dehua and Jingdezhen, which has been famous for its porcelain “Blanc de Chine” for more than 1000 years. The employees there are treated well and work in a clean and hygienic environment. In addition, attention is paid to craftsmanship and they supply excellent and high-quality porcelain.
