With this kintsugi repair kit, a new way is created to repair porcelain based on the old Kintsugi technique. The story goes that Kintsugi may have originated when the emperor sent his damaged pottery to China for repairs at the end of the 15th century. When it returned repaired with metal staples, he ordered his artisans to come up with something more aesthetic, Kintsugi (gold repair). This art became such a hype that some collectors deliberately started destroying valuable earthenware so that it could be repaired with the golden seams of kintsugi.
