It was time for a “meet the maker” again. And now that spring is in full swing, it is a good time to introduce Studio Carmela Bogman to you. Her beautiful, sustainable products are meant to make you aware of the beautiful nature around us.

Finland

Carmela Bogman is trained as a product designer at the Design Academy Eindhoven. During her studies she also studied for a while at the University of Lapland in Finland, where they have a long tradition of design in relation to nature. After a period of 6 months, in which the temperature rose from -30 to +20 and the daylight changed from a few hours a day to endlessly long days, her love for nature and design was really ignited.

Carmela always loved being outdoors; walking through the forest, cycling through the polder or just enjoying her own little garden. While more and more people flew halfway around the world to enjoy nature, she saw that there is so much beauty to discover in your own environment.

nature in your backyard

From this perspective, she started developing products that make you consciously enjoy nature in your immediate surroundings. Because how nice are the Desserts for Birds; an 'ice cream' made with different types of seeds and pits and that each attract different types of birds. Maybe you will even discover a new bird in your garden that you have not noticed before.

The Busy Bee Hotel is not only a stylish addition to your garden, balcony or patio. It also gives bees and other insects a warm welcome in your garden. The Busy Bee Hotel by Studio Carmela Bogman is an insect hotel made of recycled felt with maple wood. The various entrances in the wood provide a pleasant environment for the busy bee. No bee or insect can resist this luxury hotel! By hanging an insect hotel you help the bee in its survival and its contribution to the nature that we desperately need for our biodiversity.

If you are going out, don't forget the Pocket FlowerPress . Pick the most beautiful roadside flowers during your walk and then dry them in this fun, handy flower press. Make a beautiful collage of the dried flowers and showcase them in a (semi) transparent frame. Or store other found treasures from nature in a tiny nature box.

One of the objectives of Studio Carmela Bogman is to produce as sustainably as possible. That is why they work exclusively with producers from Europe, most of whom are from the Netherlands. This gives them insight into the production methods, materials and working conditions. In addition, they produce based on demand. This means that they are not left with excess stock and thus limit waste flows.

In addition to these sustainably made products, Studio Carmela Bogman also works with municipalities, nature reserves and landscape architects. Extensive research into the history, the environment or the use leads to surprising projects with their own story.
